Disney+Hotstar, the popular over-the-top (OTT) streaming service, is gearing up for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with a range of new features designed to elevate the cricket-watching experience for users. In collaboration with the International Cricket Council (ICC), Disney+Hotstar is introducing several enhancements to its mobile application to provide an immersive and uninterrupted cricket viewing experience.
Enhanced Features for Cricket Enthusiasts:
MaxView: One of the standout features is MaxView, which allows cricket fans to watch the game in a vertical mode (9X14 portrait view). MaxView is tailored to provide a storytelling experience exclusively for the vertical view. It will include additional features such as a live feed tab and a scorecard tab, both available in vertical mode, along with vertical ad formats.
Optimized Data Saving: Disney+Hotstar is optimizing data usage to ensure quality streaming while minimizing data consumption. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who want to enjoy high-quality cricket streams without worrying about excessive data usage.
AI-Based Video Clarity Enhancements: The platform is harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance video clarity. This technology-driven enhancement aims to provide users with sharper and clearer video quality for a more immersive viewing experience.
One-Tap Switch to Live Cricket Game: The platform is making it easier for users to switch to the live cricket game with just one tap. This streamlined experience ensures that viewers can quickly access the live action.
Live Feed Tab: To provide a deeper understanding of the game, Disney+Hotstar is introducing a live feed tab. This tab will offer real-time updates, commentary, and insights to keep users informed and engaged during the matches.
Seamless Content Discovery: The platform is enhancing content discovery with the “Coming Soon” tray, making it easier for users to find and access relevant cricket-related content.
Additionally, during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Disney+Hotstar will introduce “free badges,” allowing non-subscribers to enjoy selected content for free. These badges will grant access to certain premium content and newer tray formats.
Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney+Hotstar, emphasized the platform’s commitment to enhancing the cricket-watching experience, especially for users on the go. The updates reflect Disney+Hotstar’s dedication to adapting to fan behavior and introducing technological innovations that cater to the evolving needs of its audience.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, hosted in India, is set to kick off on Thursday, October 5. With these new features, Disney+Hotstar aims to provide cricket enthusiasts with a seamless and immersive viewing experience during this highly anticipated cricket event.
