Suniel Shetty Invests to Launch Mental Health App

Suniel Shetty Invests in Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness to Launch Mental Health App.

Bollywood actor and investor Suniel Shetty has made an undisclosed investment in Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness, India’s first and only chain of luxury mental health treatment centres. The investment aims to launch a groundbreaking mental health app called “Let’s Get Happi,” which will offer accessible and inclusive mental health support to people, while also working towards eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health.

The app, backed by Asmara Investments, a private equity firm owned by Manun Thakur, plans to invest ₹55 crore over the next two years to offer affordable and convenient mental health services. Suniel Shetty expressed his commitment to democratizing mental health treatment in India and across the globe through this innovative app.

Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness, which has already established centers in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi, plans to open four more centers in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chandigarh, and Chennai in the current fiscal year. These super-premium centers cater to a limited number of patients and charge around ₹6 lakh per month.

The Let’s Get Happi app comes at a crucial time when mental health issues are gaining increased attention in India and worldwide. It offers 24-hour access to therapy from psychologists, along with various features such as meditations, journaling, and assessment tests, all within a single app. The app’s aim is to make mental health support more accessible, affordable, and anonymous for users.

The soft launch of the app in May has already seen 16,000 organic downloads. The upcoming version, set for release in January 2024, will feature AI as the first responder, cognition and memory improvement games, premium content, podcasts, and interactive journaling.

Manun Thakur, the founder and CEO of Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness, envisions expanding their services to 24 cities in India, reaching out to schools and colleges to raise awareness about mental health and the app. While the offline centers have been profitable, the app will require additional investments for promotion and content development. The company is currently valued at ₹150 crore and has not raised any institutional funds yet.

With Suniel Shetty’s investment and the introduction of the Lets Get Happi app, Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness is poised to make a significant impact on mental health support in India, bridging the gap and making therapy more accessible and approachable for all.
