The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has kickstarted its campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan by unveiling its first list of candidates. The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Monday that the assembly polls in Rajasthan would take place on November 23, with the results set to be declared on December 3.
Notable inclusions in the BJP’s candidate list are Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari and Jaipur Rural MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, among others. These prominent BJP parliamentarians will be among the contenders in the Rajasthan Assembly polls.
According to the released list, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, a prominent BJP leader, will contest from the Jhotwara constituency, while Diya Kumari will vie for the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency in Jaipur. Baba Balaknath will represent the Tijara constituency, Hansraj Meena will contest from Sapotra, and Kirodi Lal Meena is set to compete from Sawai Madhopur.
Diya Kumari, a member of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family, adds a touch of heritage to the list of candidates. In another significant move, the BJP has fielded Bablu Chaudhury in the Jhunjhunu constituency, which is one of the crucial fifteen constituencies to watch during the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly polls in November. The Jhunjhunu constituency has a history of political significance, with notable leaders like Sis Ram Ola and Narottam Lal emerging from here.
Subhash Maharia is the BJP’s candidate for the Laxmangarh constituency. Notably, the BJP has secured a victory in this constituency only once, back in 2003. Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has represented the seat since 2008, making it a closely watched contest.
While the BJP has unveiled its list of candidates, it is worth noting that no leader from the faction associated with former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has been mentioned in the list so far. This development underscores the ongoing rift within the party in the state.
Rajasthan’s assembly comprises 200 members, and the polling is scheduled to take place on November 23. As the campaign gathers momentum, political observers and voters alike will closely follow the developments leading up to the elections and the subsequent results.
