Labourer Dies After Being Pushed Off Building in Delhi

In a tragic incident in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony area, a 26-year-old labourer lost his life after reportedly being pushed off the third floor of an under-construction building during a heated altercation with a fellow worker. The accused, a 50-year-old man named Netra Pal, had initially fled the scene but was subsequently arrested by the authorities.

 

The victim, identified as Mohammad Salman, the labourer had allegedly borrowed a mobile charger from Netra Pal and was apparently not returning it. What began as a minor disagreement escalated into a verbal spat and then quickly turned into a physical fight between the two labourers. Tragically, this dispute culminated in the shocking incident.

 

The confrontation reached a grim climax when Netra Pal purportedly pushed Mohammad Salman off the third floor of the under-construction building on the NSUT (Netaji Subhas University of Technology) campus. The incident took place amidst the ongoing construction work, creating a hazardous environment for the workers.

 

The Geeta Colony police station received a distressing call from a local hospital at around 1 am on Monday, notifying them about the incident. According to reports, the victim, Mohammad Salman, had been rushed to the hospital by some of his fellow workers. Tragically, despite medical intervention and treatment, Salman succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

 

Upon arrival at the hospital, the police team was informed about the dire circumstances surrounding the labourer,  Salman’s injuries and the events leading up to his hospitalization. Accounts provided by other fellow workers who had been present during the altercation shed light on the incident.

 

The police acted swiftly on this information, taking immediate action to apprehend the accused, Netra Pal. He was arrested on charges of murder in connection with the incident. The arrest was made with the objective of initiating legal proceedings against Netra Pal for his alleged involvement in the fatal altercation.

 

The victim, Mohammad Salman, was a welder by trade and originally hailed from Bulandshahr in the state of Uttar Pradesh. His tragic and untimely demise has left a void in the lives of his family and fellow workers.

 

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful working environment, especially in high-risk settings such as construction sites. The escalation of a minor dispute into a deadly altercation underscores the need for effective conflict resolution mechanisms and measures to prevent such tragic outcomes.
