Man Arrested for Allegedly Biting Policeman During Brawl

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Navi Mumbai for allegedly attacking a policeman and biting him during a brawl that occurred behind a mall in the Vashi area on a Saturday night. The accused, identified as Kapil Jogendrasingh Rana, was taken into custody on the subsequent Sunday. Rana is facing charges under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code, which relates to assault or criminal force intended to deter a public servant from discharging their duties, in addition to other relevant provisions.

 

The incident transpired when a police constable received a call about a public brawl taking place behind a local mall around 11:40 pm on that Saturday. Responding swiftly to the call, the constable arrived at the scene with the intent of pacifying those involved in the altercation. However, during his attempt to restore order, the constable was attacked and bitten by Kapil Jogendrasingh Rana.

 

The physical confrontation left the police constable with injuries to his face and fingers, necessitating immediate first aid. Subsequently, a thorough investigation into the incident resulted in the arrest of the accused. This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers when it comes to maintaining public order and safety during altercations and disturbances.
