Mob Attack: ACJM and Daughter Narrowly Escape

ACJM and her three-year-old daughter survived a terrifying mob attack in Nuh.

A shocking incident unfolded on Monday, as an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) and her three-year-old daughter had a narrow escape from a harrowing mob attack. The incident came to light after a process server in the court of ACJM, Tek Chand, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown assailants at the City Nuh police station.

According to the FIR, ACJM Anjali Jain, accompanied by her daughter and a gunman named Siyaram, had gone to the SKM Medical College at Nalhar in her Volkswagen car around 1 pm on Monday to purchase medicine. On their return from the medical college, they encountered a terrifying situation when around 100-150 rioters attacked them near the old bus stand on the Delhi-Alwar road.

The mob began pelting stones at their car, with some stones hitting the car’s back glass. To make matters worse, the rioters fired shots in their direction, forcing the ACJM, her daughter, and the gunman to abandon the vehicle and run for their lives. They sought refuge in a workshop at the old bus stand, where they were later rescued by some advocates.

The FIR quoted by news agency PTI further revealed that the rioters eventually torched the abandoned car, leaving it completely destroyed. A case has been registered against unknown individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rioting, unlawful assembly, fire with intent to cause damage, and attempted murder, along with appropriate sections of the Arms Act.

The incident occurred amid communal violence that erupted in Nuh, leading to six fatalities, including two home guards, after a mob attempted to halt a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession on July 31. The state government has taken action, arresting approximately 116 people in connection with the violence.

The ACJM and her daughter’s harrowing encounter sheds light on the serious repercussions of communal unrest and the importance of ensuring the safety and security of judicial officers and civilians alike. As investigations into the incident continue, authorities are determined to bring the culprits to justice and restore peace in the affected region.
