PM Modi Embarks on Official Visit to UAE and Qatar

PV Narasimha Rao, Karpoori Thakur, Chaudhary Charan Singh, MS Swaminathan were conferred upon with India's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for cooperation in various sectors. His visit underscores the growing importance of India’s relations with these Gulf countries and highlights the significant strides made in enhancing economic, strategic, and cultural cooperation.

 

In the UAE, PM Modi’s itinerary includes meetings with key dignitaries, including UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Prime Minister, and Defence Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. These meetings are expected to focus on bolstering cooperation in areas such as energy security, trade and investment, defence and security, digital infrastructure, and cultural exchange.

 

PM Modi expressed his anticipation of the visit, emphasizing the strong bond between India and the UAE across various sectors. He highlighted the importance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries and reiterated his commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties during his discussions with UAE leadership.

 

Additionally, PM Modi is scheduled to address the World Government Summit in Dubai, where he will share India’s perspective on global governance and engage with world leaders on key issues. The summit provides an opportunity for India to showcase its achievements and contribute to shaping the global agenda on various fronts.

 

One of the highlights of PM Modi’s visit to the UAE is the inauguration of the first Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, which symbolizes the values of harmony, peace, and tolerance shared by India and the UAE. In Qatar, PM Modi looks forward to meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir, and other high dignitaries to discuss further strengthening bilateral relations. India and Qatar enjoy historically close and friendly ties, marked by growing cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, culture, and education. The significant presence of the Indian community in Doha further underscores the strong people-to-people bonds between the two countries.
