President Droupadi Murmu to present Bharat Ratna Award 2024 to Former PMs Chaudhary Charan Singh, PV Narasimha Rao, former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur (posthumously), Agronomist MS Swaminathan, and BJP veteran LK Advani on Saturday at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu released a commemorative coin honoring the legendary actor and former chief minister of unified Andhra Pradesh, late N T Rama Rao, on his centenary year. The event took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. NTR, also known as NTR, made significant contributions to Indian cinema and culture through Telugu films. He was an iconic figure who left a lasting impact on both the film industry and Indian politics.

Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu acknowledged NTR’s contributions and highlighted how he enriched Indian cinema and culture through his Telugu films. She mentioned that NTR’s portrayal of prominent characters from Indian epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata breathed life into those stories. His performances were so impactful that people started to revere him, especially for his portrayals of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.

President Murmu also recognized NTR’s ability to express the pain and emotions of common people through his acting. She noted that his film “Manushulanta Okkate” carried a powerful message of social justice and equality by emphasizing that all human beings are equal.

NTR’s legacy extended beyond cinema, as he was also a prominent public servant and leader. He played a significant role in Indian politics and initiated various public welfare programs that are still remembered today. His charismatic personality and dedication to public service left an indelible mark on Indian politics.

While the commemorative coin release was a moment of recognition for NTR’s contributions, there were also reports of controversy surrounding the event. NTR’s widow and YSR Congress party leader, Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, criticized the event’s organizers for not inviting her. She alleged that certain family members, including NTR’s daughter Purandeshwari and son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu, conspired against her for political gains.

Despite the controversies, NTR’s unique personality, impactful acting, and contributions to society and politics have left a lasting legacy. The commemorative coin serves as a tribute to his remarkable journey and enduring influence.
