Railway Stations Renovation in NCR: Mega Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to kick off the renovation projects for three key railway stations located in the National Capital Region (NCR). The much-anticipated renovation works for Gurugram, Rewari, and Pataudi railway stations are about to commence, with a combined cost of ₹219 crore.

Gurugram railway station, being the centerpiece of this transformative endeavor, will undergo a significant overhaul with a budget of ₹200 crore. On the other hand, Pataudi and Rewari stations are scheduled to receive upgrades worth ₹12 crore and ₹7 crore, respectively. The announcement of these renovation projects was made after Gurugram MP Rao Inderjeet Singh held discussions with Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav, as reported by The Tribune.

Highlighting the need for enhancing the city’s basic infrastructure, MP Rao Inderjeet Singh mentioned that Gurugram is witnessing rapid progress. However, the railway station requires a major upgrade to align with the city’s development. The mega renovation project is already in progress and is set to be officially launched by PM Modi. The primary objective of this project is to enhance passenger amenities, which will include upgraded seating arrangements, improved train displays, better foot-over bridges, and more spacious waiting rooms. Multiple entry and exit points will also be incorporated into the Gurugram railway station to streamline passenger flow.

The improved railway connectivity resulting from these upgrades is expected to provide a significant boost to the warehouse and freight corridors flourishing in the region. This development will play a pivotal role in the overall growth and progress of the NCR.

During the meeting with the Railway Minister, the demand for resuming the Garhi Harsaru to Farukhnagar-Delhi DEMU train, which had been suspended during the pandemic, was also brought up. Considering the passengers’ request, the Railway Minister promptly ordered that the service be resumed at the earliest.

Furthermore, the meeting also addressed the construction of underpasses and foot-over bridges near Garhi Harsaru and Bhimgarh Khedi railway stations. The Railway Minister instructed his officers to expeditiously submit reports on these demands.

Apart from these endeavors, a washing facility will be established at Rewari railway station, with plans to facilitate a stop for the Vande Bharat train at the station starting in August, as confirmed by the Railway Minister. The upcoming railway station renovations and enhancements are expected to elevate the overall travel experience and contribute to the region’s growth and development.
