Shashi Tharoor Expresses Gratitude for Inclusion

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor says it's the democratic right of the farmers to protest and to be heard in the national capital.

Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram and a prominent Congress leader, has expressed his gratitude for being included in the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s top decision-making body. The CWC was reconstituted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Tharoor’s inclusion in this key committee has been received with humility and enthusiasm.

In a video message, Tharoor shared his appreciation for the honor bestowed upon him by Congress President Kharge. He emphasized the historical significance of the CWC in guiding the party over its 138-year history and expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated colleagues.

Tharoor acknowledged the instrumental role played by the countless committed workers who form the backbone of the party. He recognized their efforts as the driving force that keeps the Congress moving forward. Tharoor’s message resonated with the party’s commitment to an inclusive and accepting India, stating that the aspirations of numerous Indians for such a nation deserve the party’s finest efforts.

“As one who is aware of the historic role played by the CWC in guiding the party over the last 138 years, I am humbled and grateful to be part of this institution, and look forward to the opportunity to serve the party alongside my dedicated colleagues,” said Tharoor in his post.

Tharoor’s inclusion in the CWC reflects the party’s recognition of his dedication and contributions to the Congress. While his performance in the Congress Presidential election might not have led to victory, his commitment to the party’s principles remains steadfast.

The reconstituted Congress Working Committee includes 39 members, along with 32 permanent invitees and 13 special invitees. Notable leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, and Sachin Pilot have also been included in the top panel, highlighting the party’s intention to integrate diverse perspectives and talents.

Tharoor’s sentiment of gratitude and commitment to serving the party resonates deeply with the ethos of the Congress as it strives to fulfill the aspirations of the people of India for a more inclusive and progressive nation.
