UP Offers Free Bus Rides for Women on Rakshabandhan

The Uttar Pradesh government cancelled the exam following which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday termed the cancellation of the recruitment exam by the state government as a victory of youth unity and student power.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled a special gesture for the women of the state in celebration of Rakshabandhan. On August 30th and 31st, women across Uttar Pradesh will have the opportunity to enjoy free bus rides. CM Adityanath announced this heartwarming initiative via a post on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). He shared, “On the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan, a sacred symbol of brother-sister love, in Uttar Pradesh, free travel facilities will be provided to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in the state’s government buses from 12:00 am on August 29th to 12:00 am on August 31st.”

In a separate post, Adityanath expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a significant move that resonates with Rakshabandhan’s spirit. He thanked the Prime Minister for reducing the prices of domestic cooking gas by ₹200 per cylinder, a move he called a “gift to sisters” ahead of the festival. Adityanath highlighted, “In order to make the life of the common man comfortable and pleasant, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, today the Central Cabinet has taken a commendable decision to reduce the price of domestic gas cylinder by ₹200 and provide 75 lakh new gas connections under ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’.”

This relief comes as an addition to the ₹200 subsidy provided in March 2023 to beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Yojana. This means that approximately 10.35 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries will now be able to acquire a gas cylinder for ₹700.

Adityanath conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the women of Uttar Pradesh, praising the Prime Minister for his thoughtful gesture during the festival of affection, Raksha Bandhan.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of National Sports Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 100 development projects valued at ₹2,009 crore in Jhansi. This underscores the state’s commitment to all-round development and progress.

The combination of the free bus rides for women and the reduction in gas prices demonstrates the state government’s dedication to women’s empowerment and social welfare.
